2.5% for standard fundraising. 3.5% for events and peer-to-peer. No monthly fee, no setup fee, no contract, and nothing to pay when you raise nothing.

Early access. Everything described here is built and running. Online payments are being enabled now — until that is complete GeoGiving cannot accept a donation, and nothing on this site suggests otherwise.

The rules that change the number

Fees never stack

A payment is charged one rate and one only. An event that also runs peer-to-peer pages is 3.5% — not 3.5% twice.

The rate follows what the payment is, not what you switched on

A gift given straight to a campaign is 2.5% even when that campaign also has supporter pages running. Only a gift raised through a supporter’s page is 3.5%. A ticket is charged the event rate however it was sold.

Free registrations cost nothing

A free ticket carries no percentage fee, because there is no payment to take one from. On a booking that mixes free and paid seats, the fee applies to the paid part alone.

Stripe's fees are separate, and are not ours

Stripe charges its own payment processing fees, directly and at its own rates. We do not mark them up and we do not receive any part of them. Their current rates are published at stripe.com/pricing.

Donors may cover the fees — and may decline

If you turn on donor coverage, a donor can choose at checkout to add the platform fee and the estimated processing fee to their gift, so that your organization receives the full amount they intended to give. It is optional, it is never pre-selected on their behalf, and the amount is shown to them before they pay.

Covered does not mean free

When a donor covers, the platform fee is still charged — your donor has paid it rather than you. We will not describe that as a zero fee or as free, to you or to your donors, because it is neither: the money moved, and somebody paid it. When a donor declines, the fee comes out of the gift. Coverage is a choice your donors make one gift at a time, so plan on some of them declining.

The rate is fixed when the payment is created

Whatever rate applies to you is resolved and frozen at the moment a payment is made. A later change to our rates, or to your own settings, never alters a payment already taken. That rate is shown in your account before you publish, and again to your donor before they pay.

The CRM subscription is separate and optional

Donor management and reporting are a paid subscription billed to your organization. It is not required to fundraise, and it is never taken out of your donations.

What $100 looks like

A $100 donation to a campaign, at the standard 2.5% rate. Stripe’s share below uses an illustrative 2.9% + 30¢ — their real rate depends on the card and the method, and it is theirs to set, not ours.

Donor coversDonor declines
Donor is charged$105.87$100.00
Stripe receives$3.37$3.20
GeoGiving receives$2.50$2.50
Your organization receives$100.00$94.30

Our 2.5% is calculated on the donation itself and never on the amount covering the fees — a fee charged on the money covering the fee would be a fee on itself.
